This project required the restoration of a medieval farmhouse and moat which is situated within the Zeneca Chemical Works at Severnside, Avon.
The works undertaken included:
Excavation of 9,000 cubic metres of topsoil and subsoil from ditches 2-3 metres deep and associated ponds Laying of a stone path on geotextile and spreading of reserved topsoil for eventual seeding Sifting of debris followed by the re-pointing of walls to make safe Restoration of two wells Construction of dry stone walls to the entrance of the site Re-excavation and enlargement of a pond Construction of a timber jetty using historical records to assess future water levels Fencing of a paddock with Corstag fencing Laying of a concrete pad and erection of a prefabricated timber stable adapted by Marwell Zoo to house their rare Pzreswalski horses Supply of water and power and the laying of an area of woodchips
The site is now available for guided tours for schools and conservation groups.
